Evidence that the American Public is Unwittingly Supporting Terrorism in Libya

Libya's southern regions are home to black Africans of
whom were encouraged to be a part of the Ghadaffi regime.
They are now victims of harsh reprisal.  Photo: Rueters.
The American people were told US efforts in Libya were humanitarian.  Recent reports are saying the exact opposite.  Amidst the rebel armies lies Al Qaeda and it looks more and more evident they are assuming control.

1.  West Point's Combating Terrorism Center (CTC), in a detailed report from 2007 well before the "Arab Spring" and the current Libyan civil war, explained how the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) led by Abdel Hakim Belhaj, currently "in control" of Tripoli, provided more fighters per capita to kill US troops in Iraq than any other nation.

2.  This CTC report is reflected in the US State Department's list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) where LIFG is listed as #26.

3.  There is something wildly ironic about Barack Obama, decedent of a black Kenyan, assisting rebels who have apparently rounded up black Africans by the thousands throughout Libya.  There have been corroborated reports of gross atrocities throughout Tripoli, which have drawn the ire of Amnesty International and the African Union.  This is all especially ironic considering the fervent protests of the Bush era anti-war left, have since 2009, been virtually silent throughout the Obama administration's expansion of hostilities in Yemen, Pakistan, and now Libya.

As the anniversary of 9/11 quickly approaches the fact we are supporting these sordid forces should give all Americans pause.  As any brief reading of history will show we have been conned before, think Mujahedin in Afghanistan circa 1980.  The blowback from Afghanistan has been well covered, unfortunately the introspective analysis came after 9/11.  Thus far the possibility of blowback from Libya has not, so lets begin.

If indeed the source of American power is in its people by virtue of our democratic institutions and if we as citizens sit idly by and allow our military to be used for purposes other than protecting us from direct attack it will be very difficult for us to say that future successful terrorist actions within our country claimed innocent lives.  Read this again.  It's important.
